Crow Journal 7

Thoughts about crows, sightings, encounters, communication ...
I talk to old friends online.

They tell me about their experiences with crows. They tell me they feel an affinity. They tell me what they saw, who they saw.

Some of them send me memes and gifs and things like that. Funny videos from Instagram.

I watch the rooks in the town. Sometimes there are crows too, but the crows here seem to move around alone. Or in twos.

It’s been a slow start to spring. Cold.

But as a friend pointed out, this isn’t unusual. This is how it should be. The warm warm springs we’ve been having the last few years are not good.

I notice something that people say a lot when I ask them about crows. They say that there is a cultural connection between crows and negative things like:

bad omens
death
witches
war
stormclouds gathering

and stuff like that. But then almost straight away after, they say, Oh but not for me. For me they’re different.

Was that a bird against my window just now?

Not a crow certainly. But a pale shape. It looked almost like a huge butterfly.
